Thank you for visiting the Hispanic Story Project website! We are pleased that you have chosen to learn more about our Project, and hope that you will make use of our materials in your classrooms.
The purpose of the Hispanic Story Project is to assist in the promotion of understanding between members of diverse cultures and speakers of different languages. These stories provide insight into the lives of a few immigrants by sharing personal stories about their backgrounds, their journeys, and their lives in Iowa.
The use of these stories should help students to gain a better understanding of the immigrant members of school and local communities who have courageously embarked on a life-changing journey with hopes of fulfilling various goals. By providing the English and Spanish versions of each story, we hope to provide the means by which students can become more familiar with and appreciative of the Spanish language.
We are also excited to provide tools for using the stories, such as possible combinations for using the stories together, reading guides, and other assistance in planning lessons based on the stories. We hope to continually add to and update this section of our website with your help!
Feel free to contact us with any comments or questions you might have regarding the materials or our project. We also welcome you to share any lessons or materials you developed that might be useful to fellow teachers.
Thank you,
The Hispanic Story Project
